Whatman Filter Paper No 1
- Filter paper is a semi-permeable paper barrier placed perpendicular to a liquid or air flow. It is used to separate fine solids from liquids or air.
- 1 (one) is a number, numeral, and the name of the glyph representing that number. It represents a single entity, the unit of counting or measurement. For example, a line segment of "unit length" is a line segment of length 1.
Very thick and strong filter with creped surface for extremely high loading capacity in folded form. Fastest flow rate of any qualitative grade. Ideal for coarse particles and gelatinous preciptates. Time-saving Whatman qualitative grades are offered in this convenient form, which have major advantages over flat circles. Savings in time required to quadrant-fold circles to fit conical filter funnels in repetitive or multiple analysis. Decreased overall filtration time with extra surface area; normal slow down of filtration speed with loading of particulate is postponed. Increased total loading capacity because more filter area is available. Maintained flow rate because of reduction in filter paper contact with funnel side and the self-supporting shape of the filter. Prepleating does not significantly affect any technical data and the same may be used for flat circles. Retention: 30µm. 100/Pack. Whatman #: 1213-125.

Week 29 - 52 Beers: Avery No. 1 Brabant Barrel-Aged Wild Ale
Avery Brabant Barrel-Aged Wild Ale
“No. 1 Brabant is a luscious dark ale fermented with two strains of wild yeast (brettanomyces) then aged 8 months in Zinfandel barrels.”
Bottled Feb 10, 2009
This was a gift from Rick of "Big Foamy Head" Podcast
It had the horse aroma of brett with a sour aroma like a Flemish. It did pour dark. The flavor was all over the place, with no sourness and it really changed as it warmed up. I probably could only drink one of these in a session.
